Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Ok, this is not at all ball game apparel. For our New Hire training this week I had an opportunity to go to a Giants baseball game in the company suite. Fully catered. Who wouldn’t love that? Well, except for the fact that I don’t really like the Giants or Diamondbacks (their opponent). Nor do I really care that much for baseball. But, I do love food.

After making the mistake on Monday with the weather, I saw that it was going to be in the mid 70’s and decided that a dress with a cardigan would be a safe choice. If/When it got cold in the evening, my legs would still be warm with a maxi dress. If it was warm I could take off my sweater since it’s a halter top. Well, it was 53 when we got to the game. I’m not sure if it even got to 70 during the day.

Lately I’ve been deciding that I want to wear more dresses since that’s what 25% of my closet consists of. The only issue is that it’s not cold enough to really wear tights and boots with them, but it’s also not warm enough to wear short sleeves or no sleeves. I found a pintrinspiration I liked that would allow me to wear my maxi dress, but not have it be full-on summer attire. Unfortunately I do not have a scarf that matched any of the colors of my dress, but I did have a cardigan that I’d failed to dye mint 6 months ago that matched rather well.

It’s really not a flattering picture of me, but I promise I’ll get better at the whole picture-taking thing.

82 Degree Attire…?

I made the unfortunate mistake of not looking at the weather reports for yesterday before picking my outfit and proceeding to bike to and from work. For the bike ride into work it was pretty manageable and I typically wear a work-out shirt with a thin layer over it. However, going home was a different story. I didn’t change my outfit because I had an appointment I was going straight to on my bike after I got off the train. I learned pretty quickly that it was a scorcher out there. On my bike ride to the train I made sure to continually move my back in hopes I wouldn’t get back sweat from my 17.6 lb backpack. Thankfully there was no mirror on the train, so I couldn’t prove or disprove if my method worked. I then looked up the temperature in the city and realized it was 82 degrees in the city. Shit. I convinced myself that maybe if I biked fast enough there would be enough of a breeze that I’d still be ok. After I got off the train in the city I headed to my appt. I decided to take a different route, figuring out that it’d be faster. I was wrong. Apparently Pine Street that I started biking up is a 90 degree angle for at least what felt like a mile of it. I made it 100 feet before jumping off my bike and walking it up the hills (yeah, it flattens off for 10 feet so that you can catch your breath and wipe the sweat that’s getting in your eyes, which would technically make it two hills). By the time I got to my appointment (yes, of course they had mirrors) my face was beet red and I looked like I’d just showered in my own sweat. I’m not even exaggerating. I sat in a cloth chair waiting for 10 minutes and when I go up you could see the wet spot from where I’d been sitting.

This was my pintrinspiration for my outfit that I’ll save for next time when it’s a bit cooler.

Sunday Brunch

I wore this outfit on Sunday to go to brunch and then also for the plane ride home. I was sad to leave, but I know we’ll be back soon!

I really want to get a blazer like the one used in the picture, but I suppose a cardigan will do for now.

Boating!

On Sunday our friend came up with the idea of renting a boat. I attempted to pack light and had only packed one pair of shorts for the weekend. So, I had to recycle a top from Friday and my shorts from Saturday.

Going Out In the OC

Saturday night we got to meet up with an old friend that I hadn’t seen in 7 years and her husband. We had such a great time! This was my little getup for the evening. What I didn’t realize at the time was that I basically just switched colors from what I’d worn during the day. Oops. And, I also forgot to pack my black belt and felt the accessorizing was a little overpowering.

REAL Beach Day!

I know I fooled you last week with telling you that I had a beach day when it was actually freezing. This weekend we went down to Orange County to visit some friends and had a real 80 degree beach day. I knew our beach day wouldn’t actually be laying on the beach, but rather strolling around the piers and the city. I got my inspiration from a pin I saw, but then quickly decided that the outfit with the white blazer was a bit too “going out” and not casual enough. So, I decided to keep a jacket in case it cooled off (forgetting I wasn’t in SF anymore).

Forgotten Treasures

When my KISA (Knight In Shining Armor) and I went shopping this weekend I decided it was imperative to buy this new gray sweater they had on sale at The Gap for $23. It’s super soft and is nice and roomy. We leave tonight for Orange County for the weekend, so I wanted something comfortable and soft for the plane right. I saw this pin and realized that everything in my closet goes with my mint jeans. Ok, maybe all the neutral colored tops. I didn’t have a scarf to add a little flair to it, but I remembered a necklace I’d ordered a while ago from Urban Peach Boutique, but had troubles matching it with my tops in the past since most are v-neck. Well, lucky for that necklace my new sweater was a crew neck.
