Minty Stripes

It’s not often that I like my outfits more than my inspiration, but today happens to be one of them!

Leading and Motivating

These last two weeks I’ve been doing training for our Operations leadership team on Leading and Motivating. I went super casual the first week, so I felt like I had to make up for it this week.

Everlane

Since I’m not shopping or thinking about shopping, I’m obviously not obsessing over it or checking any websites for new brands. Well, except one. I recently learned of a clothing line called Everlane. The thing that caught my attention is that they don’t follow the traditional designer business model. In fact, they despise it and have therefore come up with their own. They don’t believe products should be marked up 8x their cost so they create really high quality of products in factories they handpick and have close relationship with. In addition to that, they only do business online and you buy directly from them. They have limited products and colors, but instead you get very inexpensive, high quality products. I dig it.

In case you’re already getting restless, wondering what to get me for Christmas, I’ve picked out my three favorite items to make your life easier. You’re welcome.

San Francisco Picnic

My KISA had a couple friends from Colorado in town that we got to have dinner with Wednesday night and then hung out with briefly on Sunday. On Sunday we decided to go to the Ferry Building, where they have a big food market, and had a mini picnic on the benches overlooking the bay. We got some French bread, some cheeses, and some meats and stuffed ourselves while we watched the sailboats. Thankfully the weather was really warm in the sun (cooler in the shade of the buildings), so I got to break out the shorts. Here are my two looks I wore for the afternoon:

Tan Leather Jacket

I bought this jackets about 6 months ago and didn’t really like it. It’s now becoming one of my favorite parts of my wardrobe. I really liked this inspiration and tried the outfit with the belt and jacket. My KISA and I agreed that it looked too matchy-matchy, so I elected to go with a scarf instead. We went for dinner and drinks on an outdoor patio, so the scarf seemed suitable.

Saturday Brunch

One of my new SF friends invited me to brunch with a bunch of other fine ladies. Four hours later we were still chatting and I realized I was hungry again and ready for another meal.

I tried this outfit before from another inspiration, but I didn’t love it. This was the original version:

Maxi Dress

But, this new inspiration gave me an idea – why don’t I wear the belt under the sweater? Seems so simple, but it made all the difference in the world.

Sweater and…Shorts?

Ok, so this outfit is really cute, but maybe it doesn’t make a ton of sense to wear a sweater and long sleeved shirt with shorts. Unless you live in San Francisco, that is, and layers are necessary.

Droppin’ Shoppin’

About a month ago my KISA and I went on a strict budget to save money for this wedding we seem to think we want to have next year. Part of that was cutting down on my shopping. Ok, basically completely. Thankfully I’ve been too busy for it to really set in. photo (10)

In preparation for my life coming to an end I decided to do a few things to ease the pain:

  1. I unsubscribed from all clothing email listings. Sounds harsh, but I really like a good deal, especially when it’s something really cute. And 20% off.
  2. I searched my more popular clothing pieces on Pinterest and organized all my Pinterest boards into categories for outfits.
  3. I matched up outfits based on my Pinterest inspiration and took pictures of each outfit with accessories. This makes my morning a breeze so that I can now scroll through my pictures.

With all this inspiration I shouldn’t have a desire to shop again. So, things should be ok. Right?
