Cowgirl
This was the start of my inspiration for today. Well, that was until my KISA informed me that I looked like a cowgirl.
A couple months ago we decided to have a date night and go out for a nice dinner and drinks. I decided to dress up and work a black, silk collared shirt with flared jeans, heeled boots, and a black belt. He and I both decided that night that I looked like a cowgirl. It was cute, but definitely bordering on looking country. Well, this morning I got dressed and pulled on a pair of white chinos that flared. I did the whole outfit, was satisfied and decided I should iron the pants before wearing them. That was when he spoke up telling me I looked like a cowgirl. Baffled, I asked what he meant. He immediately retracted his statement and started back peddling, telling me that if I liked it then I should wear it. You know how when someone plants an idea in your head you start to water it and let it grow? I let that happen this morning. I realized that what he meant by looking like a “cowgirl” was because the legs on the pants were flared. Since I didn’t have a lot of time, I pulled the below outfit on instead. I suppose he’s the only one I care to impress for the day, so if he prefer slimmer fitting khakis then that’s exactly what he’s going to get. I’ll fix those pants this weekend and use it at a later date.

Blueeeeee
I bought some blue skimmer skinnies a while ago and don’t really know what to think of them. They’re very basic and very blue. Today I found inspiration from a pin that I wanted to try. I’m still not sure what I think of them, but at least I’m figuring out how to match them with outfits. Ok, let’s admit that I’m matching them with all neutrals. I hope at some point in time to do a color-on-color match, inspired by my Indian work friend. We’ll see if I can go that far. For now, this is an accomplishment.

REAL Beach Day!
I know I fooled you last week with telling you that I had a beach day when it was actually freezing. This weekend we went down to Orange County to visit some friends and had a real 80 degree beach day. I knew our beach day wouldn’t actually be laying on the beach, but rather strolling around the piers and the city. I got my inspiration from a pin I saw, but then quickly decided that the outfit with the white blazer was a bit too “going out” and not casual enough. So, I decided to keep a jacket in case it cooled off (forgetting I wasn’t in SF anymore).

Beach Day!
Ok, normally when I think of a beach day, I think of shorts, tank top, maybe a cute hat, and sandals. Sorry if I got your hopes up. Since moving to Northern California I’ve learned that a beach day is just like any other day, you’re just on one of the abundant beaches.
Some of our friends had the idea to go to an oyster farm and hang out on the beach for the day. After our second oyster farm, we found a place on a ridiculously windy beach to hang out and grill oysters. I’ve learned that sometimes it has less to do with where you are and more about the company you’re with, so we had a blast, all things considered for the day.
For my attire, I knew to dress in layers. And that sandals would probably be too cold, but there’d be a risk of sand in your shoes. My natural choice then was wearing my Sperry Topsiders. I threw on some bright blue Gap skimmers, a black t-shirt, and a black sweater. I didn’t waste time with drying my hair in knowing it would be a wasted effort and no one seemed to judge me for it. Or at least not to my face.
Oh, and just because it’s windy and 55 degrees it doesn’t mean you can’t get sunburned. I learned the hard way.
