Bike to Work Day

Did you know today was National Bike to Work Day? Me neither. You should see all the loot I got for being an upstanding citizen and biking to work. Or the train. Same thing. I didn’t brag about the fact that I do it every day in fear they wouldn’t give me this cool blinking light for my bike. In hindsight maybe I should have, at the possibility they’d give me two blinking lights.

My inspiration.

Piñatas in the Park

I’ve now lived in San Francisco for three months and have never been to Golden Gate Park. If you’re not familiar with what Golden Gate Park is, think of Central Park in NYC, only way bigger and more jungle-ish. One of our friends was having a 30th birthday party in the park, so we ventured over there on Sunday. Granted, we saw only 1/100th of the park, but I’m already in love. I want to take days just to explore it. It’s like you’re on an adventure.

Well, yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day. It was mid 70’s, so what better way to spend it? In fear I’d get cold I wore my chambray shirt that has sleeves that roll. I’d found an inspiration on Pinterest that I’d worn before and decided to do it with white shorts instead of white pants.

Now, a 30th birthday part isn’t complete without a piñata. And, since it’s a 30th that would mean the piñata needs to be filled with candy, booze, silly string, and bang snaps. And there has to be kickball and bean bags. And cupcakes. And some spirits. It was the most fun adult birthday party I’d been to in a long time.

Beach Day!

Ok, normally when I think of a beach day, I think of shorts, tank top, maybe a cute hat, and sandals. Sorry if I got your hopes up. Since moving to Northern California I’ve learned that a beach day is just like any other day, you’re just on one of the abundant beaches.

Some of our friends had the idea to go to an oyster farm and hang out on the beach for the day. After our second oyster farm, we found a place on a ridiculously windy beach to hang out and grill oysters. I’ve learned that sometimes it has less to do with where you are and more about the company you’re with, so we had a blast, all things considered for the day.

For my attire, I knew to dress in layers. And that sandals would probably be too cold, but there’d be a risk of sand in your shoes. My natural choice then was wearing my Sperry Topsiders. I threw on some bright blue Gap skimmers, a black t-shirt, and a black sweater. I didn’t waste time with drying my hair in knowing it would be a wasted effort and no one seemed to judge me for it. Or at least not to my face.

Oh, and just because it’s windy and 55 degrees it doesn’t mean you can’t get sunburned. I learned the hard way.

Don’t mind the filthy mirror.
